During the Second World War, Winston Churchill sat at his easel staring at a blank canvas unable to begin a new work. A ladyfriend, seeing his dilemma, walked over, snatched away his brush, made several hasty broad swipes on the canvas then demanded, “There Winston! Now paint your picture!”
Winston’s friend understood that a new beginning, whether it be a new position, a new relationship or a simple blank piece of paper can sometimes send panic into the bravest of hearts. After all, Winston Churchill was a giant among the men of his day. What steps must we take to resolve this unwanted human condition?
Overcoming any fear begins with starting with one mark followed by another, one word followed by another or one conversation followed by a lifetime of promises. Take a deep breath and begin.
