Nana K. began crocheting Afghans in pastel colors as gifts for her great-grandchildren but when her eyesight caused her increasing distress, she switched to red yarn because she could see the stitches easier.
Red Afghans would be fashioned while sitting in her chair located next to the TV in her Clarks Lane home.
The dedicated tradition of children and yarn would see her spend many hours creating a warm welcome blanket for new infants to receive and someday pass on to another generation.
The Red Afghans became family history just like the Nana who counted stitches and made them into dreams for others to share.
